Burgess, Anthony. The Wanting Seed (1962) -
Burgess does it again. A dystopic England in which overpopulation is discouraged with policies of semi-official infanticide and benefits for homosexuals. All of the various repulsive characters go through the motions of their lives, as this society gets sicker and sicker, and the world revolts from having the natural order overturned. Cannibalism & general mayhem ensue, and after governmental massacres, chaos, insanity, betrayals, and lies, heterosexuality is revived and the world begins to get back to normal. A thoroughly repulsive novel. - lq, 9/6/99
